Windrush day today got me to thinking about the immeasurable ways in which that generation and their descendants have shaped the UK into the country it is today. I was brought up in a community enriched in so many ways by its Caribbean population, and without their contributions my city and many others would be unrecognisable to the places they are today, and much poorer for it.
Some things to read, watch and listen to, to understand the history of colonialism, it’s violence and it’s creation of racist narratives.
